For those who want to see Indigenous Puebloan ruins but who want to avoid the crowds at Mesa Verde National Park, Aztec Ruins National Monument is a great alternative! Located in New Mexico on the western bank of the Animas River near the town of Aztec, the site preserves the 900-year old ancestral Pueblo Great House of over 400 masonry rooms.
